Although we had hoped for circumstances to improve in our communities to the point where we could resume our 2020 Spring Rec Season, we are going to have to regretfully cancel our Spring Rec Season for this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic. We have been following closely with the updates from our Federal & State Governments, and although the plan to re-open certain activities in Phases is underway, there is no possible way to set a timeline on when this will include sports such as softball. With a lot of girls in close proximity to one another in the dugouts and at times, in the field of play (not to mention families & friends on the sidelines), we have no choice but to cancel our Spring Rec Season for 2020. We, as a board have decided to offer the following options to all families that have registered for this Spring Rec Season:
Refund for your 2020 Spring Registration (minus the fees charged to the league for the Credit Card Transaction & SI Play Platform that we utilize for our League). These fees total approximately $8.00 per registration.
Credit toward next year's Spring Rec Season (we will waive the additional fee for any girl who is moving up from the 8U Age Group to 10U Age Group, as the fee is normally $10.00 more for the higher age levels to help offset the fees that we are charged for umpires in these older age groups).
You can donate your Spring Registration to the league to help us with continuous Facility Improvements & Equipment Updates.
These Improvements include the upkeep and updating of the buildings & grounds throughout the year. If you have not yet had a chance, please feel free to drive to our fields to see the new siding, doors & roof that we have recently added to our concession stand, to give yourself an idea of what we have accomplished this Spring in anticipation of future activities at our fields. I have attached some pictures of the improvements we have made as well for those of you who have not been up to the fields yet this year. In addition, we have added many new sets of Catcher's Gear, Batting Tees, Equipment Bags & Helmets in the off-season, as well as a new Net that we plan to install on Field 3. Lastly, we have had to pay for the Insurance for all players in our 2020 Spring Rec Season ahead of time, even though it is now cancelled. We also have to pay for our Lawn Maintenance for this year, as the fields still need to be mowed & maintained, to prevent overgrowth.
As some of you might not know, we are a Non-Profit Organization that is self-funded and run by Volunteers. Unlike other leagues in our area who are often times helped out by their local towns & budgets, we continue to run year in and year out by the generous help & support of the parents and relatives of the players in our league. Every little bit helps, and if you are interested in helping out, we are happy to answer any questions that you have. As always, if you are interested in joining our Board, please reach out to one of our Board Members, and we will happily have you to one of our Board Meetings to meet us & see what goes into keeping our league running smoothly.
Please email me when possible with your decision on how you wish for us to handle your Registration Fees that you have already paid for this season, and we will accommodate your requests accordingly.
Thank you very much for your help & understanding, and as always, please feel free to call or email me with any questions that you have. We wish you a happy & healthy Spring.
